Stephan Martiniere, formerly creative Visual Director for Midway Chicago and now an art director at ID software has to his portfolio site, including the concept of image above from an unannounced and unreleased game called hero several interesting works of art uploaded.
You can not derive much about the project from the image gameplay, but can a man holding a sword and leading a child in a dilapidated town and what looks like a floating figure in the background. Maybe was that Midway's response to the infamous and prototype?
Martiniere posted in concept art for the stages in Mortal Kombat vs DC Universe-special units, bat cave and fortress of Einsamkeit--dazu after the break:
