Dead Space 2 360 News || Reporting Gamer column on Game People

Dead Space 2 promises more ways than ever to dismember aliens. With visuals and atmosphere to match the first game, I am looking forward to revisiting why it was so compelling.

Dead Space 2 is set three years after the original and builds on the atmospheric and gameplay wins of the first game. Isaac Clarke returns to space for another nerve jangling adventure having woken from a coma on a massive space city known as "The Sprawl", the lone survivor of a horrific alien infestation finds himself confronting a catastrophic new nightmare.

As the line blurs between reality and fiction, and Clarke battles dementia, he is hunted by the government and haunted by visions of his deceased girlfriend. With new set of tools to keep himself alive he slices, dismembers and dissects the Necromorphs onslaught.

The game looks as disturbing as it sounds with claustrophobic corridors, dark crevices and intelligent use of dynamic and deferred lighting. It feels as if there is something lurking in every shadow. But as well as the familiar, we now have more organic settings that impress as much as they scare and add more variation to the experience.

Alongside the single player game is a 4-on-4 objective-based multiplayer mode where engineers and Necromorphs race to locate pieces of a bomb and bring it back to a central location. Setting the charge then reveals a second race to the exit.

Dead Space 2 is expected to be released January 25th 2011.

"The problem with video game news is that there is so much of it. I've made it my task to sift out the noise and bring you news about games I think you should be excited about."
